Where will I sleep tonight?

Hi y'll

Yah, have been AWOL again, so here's my latest poem to compensate. There's another poem brewing in my head now, but still needs a bit more stewing before it's ready to be birthed....

This poem was inspired by my work....and serves to remind me to always focus on the KIDS!

==============================================================
Father, where will I sleep tonight?
In a tent, in a closet?
With my brothers?
Or by myself?
What did I do?
This time?

Mother, what will I eat today?
A biscuit, a sardine?
With a drink of water?
Or nothing at all?
When will I eat?
If at all?

Sister, where shall we play tonight?
A corridor, a playground?
By the beach?
Or just in our home?
With our toys?
In our minds?

Teacher, where shall I study today?
In school, at home?
Are my books with me?
Or in uncle’s home?
Which class am I in?
This year?
Auntie, which town am I in?
In Toa Payoh, in Woodlands?
Or was that where we were
Last week?
I forget cos we keep walking
Never stopping

How I wish
I could rest
And forget
All my past
And sleep
In a bed
In my home
And not by the road
Where it’s cold at night
And hot in the day
Where people point and look
And stare
And ask me what did I do
This time
