Disastrous Saturday!

ARSENAL LOST 3-1 TO BOLTON! I'm shell-shocked! They've lost their firing skills and let themselves be played off the field by a group of thugs! I'm soooooooo depressed I'm going to wear black today!

Went to see the new Casino Royale.....my friend KL and me were bitching throughout the show that Daniel Craig is the ugliest and stupidest Bond ever, and we were both hoping he'd either die or really resign from the Secret Service so that a new Bond would take over! I know, I know, he can't help the face he was born with, but honestly, he looks older than Pierce Brosnan, when I know his chronological age is actually much younger! He can't follow anyone for nuts, is not very efficient in his killing, and seems to be very mean-spirited. So many people were being killed that I lost count and we got confused who were being killed and why....I WANT PIERCE BROSNAN BACK!

Plot-wise was okay...except I missed the megomaniacs who want some super-duper doomsday machine that would allow them to rule the world....Casino Royale is a good movie if you never watched any Bond before and hence have no expectations how our favourite Double 0 should be like....but this guy ain't James Bond, not for this lost chick anyway.

Day at the Zoo

We went to the zoo yesterday with KL's nieces (aren't they cute??!!) and had a pretty good time. I love animals and adore going to the zoo....too bad it's so darn expensive! Fortunately, KL had gotten hold of her corporate membership card and so our entrance tix were free! Hoorah!Weather was excellent (cool and not sunny!) so we walked around for a couple of hours, catching some of the shows and seeing the various exhibits.

I love the blue and red bottom of the mandrill....sexy beast ain't he? And my favourite is the giraffe...so slim and elegant on her long legs and gorgeous eyelashes...the Claudia Schiffer of animals! Only difference is that this is one supermodel who eats, and here's the evidence!

3-0 Final Score! Yippee! Darling Thierry didn't score, but that's okay, cos we won anyway!

Early Christmas thoughts

Today, as I was thinking of what I should post on the blog, I was mentally preparing a tirade against restaurants which don't serve complementary ice water (and I don't mean the ones that try to fool you into ordering "sparkling water")....then as I was surfing the Net, I came to one of my favourite sites at Oprah.com (Oprah Wimfrey is one of my heroines and the person I want to be when I grow up!), I realized that I shouldn't waste my time, energy and blog-space on such negative thoughts.

Oprah has an Angel Network that has the motto "Use your life to make a difference". What a simple yet powerful concept. Many of us may wish to change the world, make a difference, but alas, so few of us actually do it! We try to explain it away in various ways, citing lack of time, family and work commitments etc. But do we really try?

Recently, there was a high-profile suicide (yah, I know the police are still investigating, but come on, the guy fell in front of a train! Like what else could he have intended?) and tons of Singaporeans donated a total amount of $1/2 million to the widow and her 2 teenaged sons. There were rumblings about how the Gahman didn't help this family, blah blah blah. I was thinking, this family had neighbours who lived beside them, maybe interacted with them on a daily basis, and never ever asked whether they needed help....and I was disgusted by the people who swarmed to the wake or even had the cheek to approach the widow to ask for 4D numbers....these people have no shame! We like to complain about the Gahman being too intrusive and paternistic, yet expect them to bail us out of trouble. Grow up, Singaporeans! We can't have our cake and expect the Gahman to pay for it!

After reading the latest inspiring stories on Oprah's website, I decided that this Christmas, I will donate something extra to help World Vision in their work (I already sponsor a child...everyone reading this blog, please sponsor a child too!) I am also thinking of how I could help some family in my community....I have an idea, but I won't post it on the blog, cos I am still a typical Singaporean who wants to be anonymous in my giving.....

Maybe some of you out there will spare 5 minutes to think about how you can help someone before the end of the year?....and DO IT!

Depression!

My beloved Gunners lost to West Ham! Of all the teams! West Ham! A team in the relegation zone! sigh....but honestly, they deserved to lose! The strikers seem to have lost their firing touch, missing time and time again.....Hope they regain their accuracy SOON!

Ah well, it's just a game, right?
