MIA

Yah, I know, I know, I've been MIA for a month....guess time flies when you're having fun! Went to Japan for a week, then had to play catch-up at work while trying to acclimatize back to hot, humid and muggy Singapore.

Japan was amazing....the Japanese have heated toilet seats in their public toilets! And the toilets are all so clean!!! I just couldn't get over it and came home raving about them. Which is a pretty sad condemnation of the public toilets in Singapore and Malaysia when I get so excited about smell-free, dry and clean toilets!

And I must have been de-toxed on the green tea while I was there cos when I came home and went to a roti prata place, I somehow managed to get indigestion from all that oil and had the runs for 4 straight days! My mum and me have resolved to return there within the next couple of years....would go earlier if it wasn't so darn expensive. I wonder how the local Japanese survive on a normal worker's pay when even a ramen meal at a little eatery for 3 people costs almost Sin$40. Think each bowl averaged Sin$10.

This trip was a good one for me since it helped me get over the last bit of hangup I have about the Japanese conquest of SEA during WW2. Yah, I know I should have forgiven and forgotten years ago, but I get outraged about stuff like how the Japanese politicians are still having trouble admitting to the extent of the evil deeds that their ancestors did, to the point of changing their own history books when the facts don't fit their version of history! Seriously, they need to get over it already! Admit, say you're sorry, pay the price, and then every one can finally move on.
