I must be psychic!

A few posts ago, I blogged about silence meaning ??? well, talk about being prophetic!

I HAVE LOST MY VOICE!!!!!

And it's not funny! Stop sniggering! I was battling the flu for the past few days, and guess the flu bug won cos it moved to my throat, swelling my lymph nodes and so I'm now struck silent! (or that's what my darling Dr Benjamin Ho told me anyway) Dr Ho has advised me to refrain from talking (!!!!) for the weekend....sigh....What's the point of having a long weekend off when I'm not in the mood for anything???? Was hoping to go watch the Hugh Grant movie "Music and Lyrics" but don't dare to go to a cinema and spread my germs around to other unsuspecting movie-goers.

Well, the plus side is

1) I've lost weight (yippee!) cos I've completely lost my appetite and only eat sufficient to line my stomach for the medicines.

2) I can't curse other drivers now except in my brain, so I'm still sticking to my Lenten promise!

Ah well, I guess I'll recover my voice soon enough, and plague the ears of my friends and loved ones with a double dose of my chattering! hahaha!

2 weeks left to Easter Sunday

...and I'm happy to report that I'm staying true to my Lenten promises! Hooray! Keeping away from my beloved chocolates...and have not been cursing drivers when I drive...

I realize that I'm blogging a LOT more on bad drivers as a way of ventilation! Like today, as I was heading home from Vivocity, a clueless Mercedes decided to swerve into my lane, and I had to jam my brakes and horn to avoid hitting him. And an elderly uncle decided to stop his car in the middle of the filtering lane to commune with his Higher Power or something (and no, there was no one crossing in front of him), and then moved off WITHOUT SIGNALLING when he noticed cars were overtaking him! Aiyoh! Why are these people allowed to drive on the roads? I really think there should be an IQ test before folks are allowed to own and drive cars.

As for my chocolate sacrifice, some folks may think it's a nonsensical sacrifice but it's really hard for me cos I must eat chocolate every day or get very grumpy...yah, that makes me a chocoholic. Staying away from chocs for 6 weeks helps me to realize that many things in life are not necessary and it's a small sacrifice when compared to what God sacrificed for us. (His Son lah!)

Anyway, Easter is coming soon (Marks and Sparks are selling Easter chocs and hot cross buns already--I adore those cute little bunnies but can live without hot cross buns) and the celebration of New Life is going to start soon. I can't wait for my first Starbucks mocha on Easter Sunday.....and oh yah, of cos, going to church on Good Friday and Easter Sunday!

A little rant about bad drivers

Went for dinner with my big bro, his wife and my mum tonight. We first headed for the temporary hawker centre at Chinatown, but guess about 2000 other foodies had the same idea cos the place was PACKED! Gave up waiting for a seat and headed for a steamboat restaurant in Tiong Bahru. Not too bad but very expensive... Ate until we almost burst and there was still food left on the table.
Anyway, this post is not really about what I had for dinner....but about BAD DRIVERS! At the Chinatown hawker centre, I was sooooo appalled by the inconsiderate parking exhibited by a driver of a Nissan (License plate SFD 9287M) that I HAD to take a pic to post on my blog.....
Yah, I know I'm risking being sued by the driver (but on what grounds???), but honestly, this guy/gal was amazing! Come on, you only paid for the right to park in one parking lot, not two. And you know it's a Sunday evening at a popular eating spot, so why must you irritate other drivers by taking two lots? I was tempted to park next to the car in such a way that the driver wouldn't be able to get out without hitting his own car, and then wait to see who returned to the car, but my mother dragged me away.....sigh, why do mums always insist on their children behaving well?
Bad drivers, beware, cos there are lots of folks like me, armed with camera-phones, waiting to snap a pic of you exhibiting bad driving and posting in on the Web for all to see.... hahahaha!

Silence means what?!

Yaya, I know I've not updated the blog for a while, busy and stressed and depressed lah! Depressed cos my beloved Gunners kenna beaten out of FA and Carling Cups. Stressed and busy cos of that wonderful 4-letter word - WORK!!

Woke up at 3am to do some reports for work, but also to watch the Champion League games. Couldn't believe that Star is not telecasting the Arsenal game live! They're showing the Manure vs Frenchies (aka Lille) game instead. Like who cares whether either team goes through??? Who supports these two teams??? :-P I WANT TO WATCH THE GUNNERS! Why am I paying an obscene amount of money to Starhub every month to subscribe to the Sports channels when they don't show what I want to see? And no point writing in to them....did that once, got the usual autoreply, and nothing came out of it. And now there's strong rumours that they're going to increase subscription rates again just because the EPL wanted more money. Think I'll cancel my subscription when that happens. After all, I can do without waking up at awful hours to watch football games that cos my heart levels to boing around at unhealthy rates!

My friends have been asking me whether I'm keeping to my Lenten promise of not cursing when I drive. (interesting no one asked about me staying free of chocolate)...weeeellll, I'm still technically keeping to it cos I haven't been SWEARING at dumb and hazardous drivers, but I've honked at a number cos they were stupid. Like the other night, coming home from work, silly person came out of a side lane into the 2nd lane (???!!!!) at 5km/hour when I was coming off a slight decline at 60km/hour! Of course, it was a LADY DRIVER!! I honked to warn her, but she continued on her merry slow way, oblivious to all the other cars coming down the road. Why do such people continue to live and breathe and drive on the roads??? just to drive the other drivers mad??? I was SOOOOO tempted to give her my favourite finger sign, but remembered my promise and swallowed the curses....I think I added yet another ulcer at that moment! When I die, I want my obit notice to say that I died 10 years before my time because I was killed by stupid drivers!

Sigh....what to do? Can't do anything about dumb drivers, so guess I'm gonna have to resign myself to an early death....
