Attracting attention
I had a rather interesting conversation yesterday with a friend who is also a blogger about how to attract visitors to our blogs. She was wondering how to increase traffic to her site, and I commented that some of the famous bloggers (I won't bother to give them any more publicity by saying who they are--they're the COMPETITION for crying out loud!!!!) attract attention by either creating scandalous and outrageous posts, putting seductive pics on the sites, or talking about food (we Singaporeans love to eat and talk about food, right?).
Me? I just blog cos I like to write and this is so much more fun and easier than handwriting labouriously into those little diaries all of us used to keep as children. And I guess, being a narcissist (who can't spell!), blogging is the ultimate way of trying to attract attention. I blog to share my thoughts and views with anyone who wants to read, and those who care, will read on, and those who get bored by the inane ramblings of a little nobody living in a tiny red dot of an island, will move on.
Maybe I should start putting Photo-shopped pics of myself (or Angelina Jolie) on the site....but I'm not exactly looking to attract DOMs (Dirty Old Men lah!) so maybe not....
